A slight breeze becomes a whiteout
from flickr user RyanShoots
The photographer says: This is what 35 mph winds look like when they only have an inch of loose snow to blow around. If they hadn't had the warmup a few days earlier that crusted the earlier snow, it would have been much worse. And it was worse than this at times, but its hard to show in a photo because you can't see anything - which - you can't. I grew up in this area and it was common to have school be a couple hours late or close early if there were reports of wind on the way. This area of Minnesota has several wind farms and is getting more, with good reason.
